Welcome to Abide in Prayer Ministry!

Hello, my name is Jodi-Kaye Watson. Thank you for visiting Abide in Prayer Ministry. If someone told me ten years ago that I would start a ministry, I would have laughed. Growing up, I knew there was something special about me, but it took me a while to figure out that God chose me to represent him in the earth. The road to purpose was filled with twists, turns, potholes, trenches, but when I met Jesus for real, not religiously attending church and praying, my life changed. I now understand what the writer of Acts meant when he said, “In him we live, move and have our existence.” This is an introduction, not a biography, so let me move on.

As I began writing this, I thought, why not do a Q & A? I placed myself in your shoes and thought, if I visited this website, trusting this stranger to guide me in prayer, what would I want to know? Below are ten questions that will help provide insight into Jodi-Kaye and the Abide in Prayer Ministry.

1. What is Abide in Prayer Ministry all about?

The Abide in Prayer Ministry provides bible-based prayers for believers in Jesus Christ. The truth is, we all feel at a loss for words sometimes. We may ask, what do I pray concerning a situation, or what does the word of God say about a particular matter? Each prayer is based on scripture and reveals God’s promises, instructions, and heart towards his children.

I grouped the prayers into several categories, for example, Spiritual Health, Overcoming Life’s Hardships, and Family and Relationships. Each prayer includes scripture references for further reading and edification. I added a list of prayers that will be released soon but, if there are specific prayers that you would like to see now, please feel free to send me a message using the contact form at the bottom of every page.

2. How did Abide in Prayer Ministry start?

Abide in Prayer was birthed in prayer, no shock there. I am always praying; I pray about everything, even the smallest things that may seem insignificant. You may see me walking down the street with my earphone, seemingly in a phone conversation, the truth is I am usually just talking with God. The earphones are so people don’t think I am crazy. I feel closest to God when I pray, just sitting in a quiet place, pouring out my heart to Him.

One day the Holy Spirit instructed me to start writing prayers. As I started writing the prayers, my mind kept going back to when I was young in the faith, and I would always hear “Pray the Word.” Back then, I heard scriptures in the church that I would just repeat, not taking the time to understand what they truly meant. So as I wrote these prayers, I looked at scriptures and the context to create prayers that reflect the truth of God’s word.

As I started this journey, I had no idea the prayers would end up here. Those who know me, know that I like being in the background and have no desire for recognition, so this is outside my comfort zone, but I obeyed, and God led me here.

3. Why did you choose this name?

I chose the name Abide in Prayer because to live a victorious life as a believer, we are required to abide in God’s word, abide in Christ,  abide in His presence, and of course, abide in Prayer. The Greek word for Abide is menō, which means to remain or to continue to be present. John 15:5 explains it best; Christ said to His disciples, “If you abide in me, and I abide in you, then you will bear much fruit.” To abide in prayer simply means praying without ceasing, i.e., praying at all times and in every situation, good or bad. When we are sick, pray, when we feel lost, pray, when we feel like the enemy has backed us into a corner, pray, when things are going good, yes, you guessed it, PRAY!

4. Who is your target audience?

The Abide in Prayer Ministry is for all believers in Jesus Christ. Whether you are a new believer or even a seasoned intercessor, there is a prayer here for you. We all experience loss, temptations, suffering, and the list goes on; the key is to abide in prayer. Christ taught His disciples how to pray; prayer is not a suggestion but a requirement for believers (Matthew 6:5-15). If you would like to accept Jesus as Lord of your life, please pray the “Prayer to Accept Jesus Christ into your Heart”  in the Repentance Category.

5. What do you hope to achieve through this ministry?

I desire that these prayers will move heaven, break chains, transform lives, encourage, strengthen, and overcome the kingdom of darkness.  It is my prayer that you experience the hand of God in your life as a result of these prayers. Let us believe and watch God move!

6. What is the foundation of your faith?

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, sent into the world to redeem humanity from our sins. I believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. I believe He died, was buried, rose again, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.

7. How long have you been saved?

I got baptized at an early age, but I gave my heart to Jesus in 2012.

8. What is one of your most impactful experiences with Prayer?

One Saturday night in 2019, as I was about to head to bed because I had church in the morning, I felt something come over me and started to drain the life out of me. It was like I could feel my body shutting down, and I could taste death. This happened so suddenly, and my first reaction was panic because I never experienced anything like this before. Once I realized that this was an attack from the enemy, I started to pray. Praying was the only thing I could do.

I remember hearing the enemy say, “you’re going to die tonight; you will not live to see the morning.” I knew God made promises to me that were yet to be fulfilled, so I prayed and fought for my life and purpose until the break of day. I rejected death! I simply wasn’t ready to die. If I had not prayed but had given in to panic and fear, I don’t think I would be here today. It has been a series of attacks following that night. There were days when I woke up, and I couldn’t remember what happened the day before. The weight on my mind and body was like a dark and heavy cloud. My health was also affected. I lost weight, had difficulty sleeping, among other things, and all the trips to the doctor showed that physically I was fine (no surprise!). I know now more than ever that prayer keeps, protects, and restores.  I pray not because I want to, but because I have to.

9. What church do you attend?

I am a member of the Greater Deliverance Church of God Ministry in Mt. Vernon, New York, under the leadership of Overseer Garnet Morrison and Pastor Melbourne Morison. However, I attribute my foundation to the Mt. Charles Baptist Church in Jamaica, where I grew up and served for several years.

10. What is your nationality?

I am Jamaican. I was born and raised in the cool hills of the parish of St. Andrew in the community of Lawrence Tavern.
