Church Dedicatory Prayer

Blessed are you, oh God, King of the universe; there is no God like you in heaven or earth. Lord, we know that your presence doesn’t dwell in the building or the articles within; even the highest heavens cannot contain you. What kind of house could we build for you? What place could we possibly create for your rest? I recognize that heaven is your throne, and the earth is your footstool; the world is yours and everything in it. 

Lord, I acknowledge that you have chosen this spot and this building to be your place of worship. I pray that your eyes will be opened towards this building night and day. May your name reside here throughout generations. Father, I ask you to hear from heaven the prayers offered in sincerity and faith in this building, and may you act on your people’s behalf. Lord, I pray that this house will be a place of refuge, hope, love, and salvation for the community.  May the supplications, praise, worship, tithes, offerings, prayers, and acts of service produce a sweet and pleasing aroma to you.

I thank you for providing these instruments, objects, equipment, vessels, and furnishings to be used in your sanctuary. Lord, I ask you to consecrate this house and all that is within it, and may your eyes and heart be here throughout generations. I anoint them with your anointing oil and declare them holy and consecrated for your service. As Hannah gave back Samuel to you, we give you all these tangible things you provided for worship and service to you, the church, and the community. As you did in Solomon’s time, when he dedicated the temple to you, may the fire of your presence fill this place.

Adonai, accept our offering of prayer and worship. We lift our hearts and hands in thanksgiving to you. Amen
