February: Prayer Based on the Story of MOSES

Deuteronomy 34:10 There has never been another prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.

Heavenly Father and deliverer, “In the greatness of your majesty you threw down the Egyptians who opposed you. You unleashed your burning anger; it consumed them like stubble. By the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up. The surging waters stood up like a wall; the depths of the sea became firm ground. The enemy boasted, I will pursue, I will overtake them. I will divide the spoils; my desire shall be satisfied against them. I will draw my sword and my hand will destroy them. But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” (Song of Moses, Exodus 15:7-11)

Lord, I am so grateful you have chosen me, just like Moses, to fulfill your purpose. Thank you for looking beyond my excuses, flaws and weaknesses. Thank you for preserving my life, despite the attempts of the enemy to kill the purpose that is in me. The same way Moses lived in the Egyptian’s house but was at his core an Israelite, I pray that I will be in the world but not of the world. If necessary, may I also be willing to give up familiarity, material possessions, and comfort to identify with the only true God.  Lord, help me to walk in obedience so that I do not miss out on the promises you have for me. Teach me to truly love you with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my strength.

Adonai, I need your presence with me every step of the way. As Moses said, I will not move forward if your presence is not with me. Lord, I place my confidence and trust in you alone. In the same way that Moses had a deep and intimate relationship with you and you called him to meet you on the mountain top, I pray that my relationship with you will be like the mountain top – deeply intimate, filled with revelations and instructions. Lord, I want to dwell in your secret place. I refuse to camp at the foot of the mountain; I refuse to be an average believer. As Moses’ face sent rays of light when he returned from talking with you on Mt Sinai, may my life also shine bright with the light of Christ. I pray that my life will be one filled with signs, wonders, and your glory.

Lord, I pray that my character will be like Moses’. I pray that I will not be driven by personal ego and self righteousness; and that I will seek you in everything that I do. May I never grumble when things don’t go my way or become overwhelmed with anger and irritation to the point of sin. May I demonstrate empathy, a strong sense of justice, and stand in the gap for others through prayer. I pray that you will grant me the courage to stand against the enemy, and that you send my destiny helpers to lift up my hands during battle.

Lord, I trust your timing. At the appointed time you called Moses to deliver the Israelites. Likewise, I trust that there is an appointed time for my deliverance and restoration. Adonai, I commit every area of my life to your good pleasure, and I ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
