Prayer for my Marriage

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God, he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:24

Dear Lord, how mighty are the works of your hands, and how wonderful is your love towards me. You hold my future in your hands; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. I am so thankful that you are concerned about me and everything that affects me. So even now, I lift my marriage before you. My desire is for you always to be the head of my union, leading us in the path of righteousness and directing us according to your will. Forgive us if we have made decisions without consulting you, if we have leaned on our understanding instead of trusting you completely, and if we have put our interests above you. Help us to love you more than we do each other.

Father, I pray that love, patience, trust, faithfulness, and kindness will abound in my marriage. Teach us to love unselfishly and unconditionally, placing the needs of our spouse above our own. Help us not to harbor anger and bitterness, but be kind and tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as you have forgiven us. Heal our hearts from hurts and disappointments that can lead to bitterness and resentment. Lord, I pray that everything in my marriage will be done in love. I pray for patience and Godly wisdom to resolve issues and disagreements. Help me to love my spouse more profoundly and intimately.

Lord, I pray against all the plans of the enemy to interfere with and destroy my marriage. I ask you to completely remove and shatter every evil spirit and power working against my union by your exceedingly great strength. I pray that as you did with Job, you will put a protective hedge around my marriage so that the arrows of the enemy will not be able to pierce our covenant. Expose and cut off every third person who wants to attach themselves and cause problems in my marriage. I pray for the power to overcome every temptation that could lead to infidelity, hurt, or disappointment. I pray that my union will be fruitful physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I pray that I will be a destiny helper for my spouse, pushing him/her into his/her God-appointed purpose. Lord, help me always be a source of encouragement and upliftment, always building up and never tearing down. I pray that my words will be as sweet as honey to his/her soul. I pray that my presence will bring joy and comfort, and everything that happens in our home will bring glory to your name.

Lord, I ask you to pour out a special blessing on my marriage. Grant us Godly wisdom to make decisions concerning our family. May the cord that binds us never loosen, and may your love be the greatest love in our lives. Fill our union with abundant joy, vibrant happiness, and the fullness of peace. I commit my marriage to you for your good pleasure, and I echo your word over my union, that what God has joined together, let not man separate. I pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
