A Prayer for Protection

Psalm 91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

My God and Father, you are the only all-powerful, all-knowing, and self-existent God. You continue to be my refuge and strength, always present in times of trouble. You are my hiding place; you are able to protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. My confidence and trust are in you!

Lord, I ask that you protect me from every plan of the enemy in my going out and coming in. As I go about my daily activities, I pray that I will not be the victim of accidents, harm, or injury. Thank you for all the times you have protected me, covered me, and prevented the enemy from triumphing over me. Surely, you have preserved me! I pray that I will recognize your hand at work in my life daily, and never take you for granted.

Lord, I know the enemy hates me because I have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit lives within me. I know that he is constantly seeking to destroy my life and my faith in you. But, you, oh Lord, are faithful and fully capable of strengthening me and protecting me from the evil one. So, Lord, I pray that you protect me from the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm as I stand dressed in your full armor. Lord, if I have opened the door to the enemy in my life, I repent and ask that you plug every hole and expose every work of darkness. I pray that I will not be ignorant of the enemy’s schemes, but that I will always be alert, armed with your word. In the same way that you protected the three Hebrew boys, I pray that the fires I face will not consume me, and like Daniel, I pray that the roaring lion will not devour me.

Lord, I know that just because I am in your care, it doesn’t stop storms and fires from happening. Nevertheless, I stand with confidence knowing that nothing can touch me or affect me without your consent. And even if you allow the enemy to touch me, your grace is sufficient for me! You will provide strength, courage, comfort, and faith, to endure the hardship, all while you work things out for my good. That’s the kind of God you are! I thank you that when I pass through the waters, you will be with me; and when I pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over me. Even when I walk through the fire, I will not be burned; the flames will not set me ablaze. What then shall I say to all these things? If God is for me, who or what can come against me?

I ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
