Prayer of Ordination

Leviticus 8:12 And he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him.

Blessed are you, oh God, king of the universe. I thank you that we are your co-laborers, and we will be rewarded according to our labor. I know that all believers are saved through the same faith, given by the same savior and filled with the same Spirit, yet grace has been given to each believer according to their unique gifts. Lord, manifest the fullness of your grace in your servants as they serve you in their gifts and fulfill your purpose. May they be a sweet aroma of Christ among believers and the unsaved.

Lord, I pray they will honor you with their life, body, wealth, and gifts. May they love you with all their heart, soul, and might, and whatever they do, in word or actions, may it be done in your name. May they honor others above themselves, not being proud or conceited. Lord, may they never be lacking in zeal, but rather serve you with enthusiasm. I pray that they will not grow weary of doing good but be reminded that they will reap in due season if they do not give up. Adonai, I pray that your servants will be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. Please clothe them with a servant’s heart because whoever wants to become great must be a servant in your kingdom.

As Moses anointed Aaron, consecrating, ordaining, and commissioning him for service, I anoint your servants with this oil as a symbol of your holiness, Spirit, and power. As your Spirit rested mightily upon David when he was anointed by the Prophet Samuel, I pray that your Spirit will rest even greater upon your servants from this day forward.

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. Now to him who is able to do far beyond anything we can ask or imagine according to his power that is at work in us, to him be glory in the church throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
