December: Prayer Based on the Life and Ministry of CHRIST

Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior. There are no words that can truly capture your essence and character. You uphold the entire universe by your powerful word. By you all things were created, in heaven and on earth. You disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in the cross. You are at the place of highest honor and your name is above all other names. You are seated in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this present age but also in the one to come. All things have been placed under your feet and at your name every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that you are Lord.

God, thank you for providing me with the perfect example of righteousness and godliness in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is a joy to know that I am baptized into His body and that His Spirit lives within me. I pray that I will have the mind of Christ, that my life will honor the sacrifice He made for me on the cross, and that Christ will be fully formed in me.

Abba Father, thank you for sending your son into the world to die for my sins, giving me the power to live as you intended. Like Christ, I pray to have a servant’s heart and that I will be filled with the desire to serve others. I pray that I have compassion on those who are lost and need a Savior. Like Christ, I pray that I will be sensitive to the needs of others and respond with godly wisdom. I pray that humility will be evident in my words and works as I live out my calling.

Father, help me to forgive those who have wronged me, just as Christ forgave those who crucified him. May I love everyone, even my enemies, and may I do to others what I would like them to do to me. I pray that my greatest motivation will be my desire to obey your will, even when this leads me into uncomfortable or even dangerous situations. Abba Father, I am willing to take the road less traveled as long as you lead me.

Father, when the pressures of life pile up, pull me into the secret place of prayer with you. I pray that I will never be so busy with ministry or life that I neglect my devotional time with you. I pray for a deeper desire to study your word, so I will be equipped to resist the lies and temptations of the enemy. Father, help me to always follow the pattern of Christ. Amen!
