November: Prayer Based on the Life of JOB

Abba Father, in your hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind. You take counsel from no one and your wisdom is past finding out.  Lord, you are more than I imagine; the number of your years is unsearchable. You gather moisture into the clouds and supply us with rain. Who can understand how you scatter the clouds and speak from your home in the thunderstorm? You are sovereign and omnipotent, and all that I need is found in you.

Lord, I understand that the righteous will be tested and that trials are not always the result of disobedience. Even though hardships are inevitable in a fallen world, I pray that I will see the blessing in my trials. I pray that my hardships will produce mature faith and perseverance. I pray that when you have tested me, I will emerge as pure gold. Lord, I never want to lose my hope in you. As Job said “Though he slay me, yet will I trust him.” May patience erupt in me so that even in my lowest moments, I will still bless you. I pray that my situations will never dictate my praise. Please give me the strength to persevere through rough seasons, so that I don’t walk away from my faith. I pray that your grace will enable me to wait on your deliverance and restoration in my life. I pray that Job’s story of endurance, even under crippling conditions, will serve as an encouragement for me to trust you in the midst of my own struggles.

Lord, the story of Job encourages me that even when you are silent, you are always present with me. I am also assured that nothing I go through happens by chance and you are incapable of being surprised. Everything that I face passes through your hands first. Because of this, I will not let the words of others negatively influence me during my hardships. Even if others mock me for my faith, I will continue to praise you in my circumstances. I pray that I too will be a man/woman of great endurance no matter the pressures of this life.

Lord, I pray that I will not be like Job’s friends, quick to judge others during their trials and suffering. I pray that I will be a friend who encourages and builds up.

Abba, I thank you for the way you’re working in my life. I ask all these things in Jesus name, Amen!
