October: Prayer Based on the Story of NEHEMIAH

Nehemiah 2:18 “I told them of the hand of my God which was upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work”.

Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him. You deserve the deepest reverence and respect. Lord, thank you for Nehemiah’s example of faith, praying without ceasing, and commitment to kingdom business. Like Nehemiah, I pray that I will seek you through prayer before embarking on any new project. Lord, I want to be deeply concerned about your business and work. May I never be too busy to display interest and concern for what concerns you. However, if you place something on my heart, please nudge me to pray and fast for guidance before jumping into action. I pray that excitement and passion will not lead me to act prematurely.

Lord, it is true that one doesn’t have to be in full-time ministry to make an impact. You can use anyone, regardless of their profession or position, and so, I avail myself to be used by you. I pray that you will align me with likeminded people as I seek to accomplish your will. Please grant me the boldness to ask for support and help like Nehemiah did, and I pray for favor with influential and powerful people.

Lord, I know that living a purposeful life will not be without challenges. However, despite obstacles, opposition, insults, and accusations, I will still work. I pray that I will be a finisher, just like Nehemiah. I will not only start well, but also finish well. I know that I can accomplish even what seems impossible if I am doing your work under your authority. Lord, because you were with Nehemiah, he was able to build the walls in a record 52 days. I pray that I will not be frightened when the naysayers rise up against me. May I declare boldly like Nehemiah, “The God of heaven will prosper me; therefore I will arise and build”. Lord, give me the power and determination to stay in position. As Nehemiah rightfully said, “I am doing a great work, I cannot come down”

Lord, I lay my will aside and submit to your plans for my life. I surrender my entire self to you with confident trust in your wisdom. I pray that you remove the people and habits from my life that are blocking your purpose in me. I pray against every Sanballat and Tobiah who have come to distract, discourage, and frustrate me. I demolish every plan of the enemy, trying to prevent me from fulfilling my purpose. Today, I affirm that nothing can thwart your plans for my life. Lord, I pray that I never let down my guard, but that I am always vigilant, armed with your armor, ready for the enemy’s attacks. May I learn from the example of the men who worked on the wall with Nehemiah, who held a weapon in one hand while working with the other. I pray that I will be a working warrior who will do your work with humility and courage.

O Lord, hear the prayer of Your servant. I ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
