Prayer for my Local Church

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us keep paying attention to one another, in order to encourage each other to love and do good deeds, not neglecting our own congregational meetings, as some have made a practice of doing, but, rather, encouraging each other. And let us do this all the more as we see the day of Christ return approaching.

How great is your name! Your arm is mighty, and your hand is strong. You stripped the rulers and authorities of their power; you made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them through the cross. How wonderful it is to be baptized in you, becoming a member of your body, the church. Blessed and happy are those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Adonai, I come to you today on behalf of the (name your church). I pray that there will be no division in our congregation, but instead, members will encourage and care for each other as your word teaches. Help us to be perfectly united in mind and thought. May love be echoed above spiritual gifts, for without love, we are nothing. Lord, I pray that the light of your presence will shine bright through us so that our actions and words will draw others to you. Help us to live in righteousness so that the ministry will not be discredited. Give us the mind to put off our old sinful nature and clothe ourselves with the new godly character, expressed through holiness. Lord, help us to live a life worthy of the calling we have received, not only being hearers but doers of your holy word.

Adonai, I lift up my pastor/s (name your pastor/s), and all the other leaders before you . Help the members to submit to their authority so that leading will be joyful and not burdensome. Please strengthen and spiritually energize these leaders with power through your Holy Spirit; send a fresh outpouring of your anointing. Help them not to faint in times of adversity. May they never grow weary in doing the work of the Lord, but help them to run the race set before them with endurance and patience. In seasons when their leadership is tested, give them a heart like Christ, empowering them to love those who they lead deeply and unconditionally. Adonai, I pray that my leaders will be clothed with humility and wisdom and anointed with vision as they lead your people.

Lord, I bring before you all the members of the (name your church). You know each of us individually, and you have work for each of us to do. Manifest the gifts of your Spirit and equip us to walk out our calling. Remove the spirit of timidity; instead, help us tell of your saving grace boldly everywhere we go. Set our hearts on fire for you, and stir us to keep the fire on our altars burning continually. Lord, I pray that every man, woman, boy, and girl at the (name your church) will receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know you better. I pray that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened so that we may know the surpassing greatness of your power working in us. I pray that every area of ministry: women, men, youth, music, outreach, and (name other ministries) will fulfill their assignment effectively, all to the glory of your name. Father, I pray for those who visit our congregational meetings repeatedly but have yet to say yes to your call. Please remove the scale from their eyes and open their hearts to the truth of Jesus Christ.

Lord, I pray that my congregation will stand on the truth of your word, not turning aside to the left or right, or compromising your standards to attract the world. Equip teachers by your Holy Spirit, who will accurately teach your word. I pray that truth will be preached even when it is unpopular, in season and out of season. Break every spirit of religiosity and stir our hearts to desire deeper intimacy with you. May we never be satisfied with the ordinary; stir us for greater and pull us into abundance! Lord, I ask you also to stir your people to give bountifully to your ministry as we are able.

Now to him who is able to do superabundantly more than we can ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and Christ Jesus from generation to generation, forever and ever! Amen.
