A Prayer for Missionaries

Romans 10:15b “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

Oh Lord, I thank you for missionaries who are taking the message of salvation all around the world. I thank you for their willingness, commitment, and sacrifice to take the gospel to those who need it. Many have sacrificed comfort, safety, and possessions in order to serve you, so I want to take this opportunity to pray for them.

I pray that you will endow them with power and boldness. I pray that they will be confident in your word and that you equip them for your work. May the gospel be preached and shared with much power and full conviction. I pray that you open doors and create opportunities for your message to be shared. I pray for divine connections in counties, regions, and communities where missionaries are located. Even in those areas where your name is not welcome, I pray that you break through barriers and open doors for people to hear the message of salvation. I pray that your word will be accompanied by signs and wonders, and you will use missionaries to plant and multiply churches.

Lord, many are being persecuted for your name’s sake, and so I pray that you fill them with joy in the Holy Spirit. I pray that their hope of an eternal reward will provide steadfastness and endurance, so they are not only able to survive hard times, but also triumph over them. Whenever they feel discouraged, I pray that you remind them and assure them that their labor is not in vain. In the midst of persecution and slander, I pray the character of Christ will shine through, so that their lives will bear witness to what they profess. As they share the gospel, I pray that lives will be transformed and that souls will be added to your kingdom daily.

Lord, I pray you supply all their needs as they labor for you. May you inspire people and organizations to support and partner with those who have committed themselves to spreading the gospel. I also pray for comfort and provision for their families as many of them have been separated from their loved ones.

Lord, we thank you for their labor of love and we ask that you give them peace at all times in every way. I ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
